Côte d'Ivoire

Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) is one of Africa’s best developed countries, possessing outstanding infrastructure in comparison to other developing economies. Côte d'Ivoire's agricultural industry currently overshadows mining, even though the nation has the largest share of greenstone belts prospective for gold in West Africa.

In 2008, Lihir’s Bonikro mine (now owned by Newcrest) became the first significant gold producer for the under-explored country while Randgold’s 4.3Moz Tongon project in northern Côte d'Ivoire commenced production in 2010.

Discoveries in Mali and northern Côte d'Ivoire are significant for the relative ease with which the deposits have been discovered, their large size, grade, and mine profitability. The discovery and early production successes at Morila sparked the current Malian gold exploration rush.

Our tenement holding in northern Côte d'Ivoire stands at 2,724km², with the main area of focus being the Tengrela Gold Project.  In addition to Tengrela, we are working on the Mahale and Mbengue licences in Côte d'Ivoire.
