Côte d'Ivoire

Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) is one of Africa’s best developed countries, possessing outstanding infrastructure in comparison to other developing economies. Côte d'Ivoire's agricultural industry currently overshadows mining, even though the nation has the largest share of greenstone belts prospective for gold in West Africa.

In 2008, Lihir’s Bonikro mine (now owned by Newcrest) became the first significant gold producer for the under-explored country while Randgold’s 4.3Moz Tongon project in northern Côte d'Ivoire commenced production in 2010.

Discoveries in Mali and northern Côte d'Ivoire are significant for the relative ease with which the deposits have been discovered, their large size, grade, and mine profitability. The discovery and early production successes at Morila sparked the current Malian gold exploration rush.

Our Sissingué Gold Project is located in the north of Côte d'Ivoire and is situated within an 885km2 land package consisting of the Sissingué exploitation permit area and the adjoining Tengrela South exploration permit area, which are together referred to as the Tengrela Gold Project. Our recent exploration in Côte d'Ivoire has focused on the Mahalé, Mbengué and Napié licences.
